What Is Included
1. RidgeRun Embedded Test Orchestrator Software
The software components required to operate the platform:
-
Test Orchestrator Server: Central service that manages connected devices, test definitions, execution requests, and validation results.
-
Embedded Device Agent: Software installed on each target device to report its availability, discover supported tests, execute test scripts, and return results to the server.
-
Web Dashboard: Browser-based interface for managing devices, configuring test suites, starting validation runs, and reviewing their status.
2. Test Templates and Examples
Reference manifests, Bash test scripts, and test suites that demonstrate how to create and organize project-specific validation.
These examples provide a starting point and are not intended to represent complete validation coverage for the customer’s product.
3. Product Documentation
Documentation covering:
-
System installation and startup
-
Device connection and configuration
-
Test manifest creation
-
Test suite configuration
-
Test execution and result review
Engineering Support
The RidgeRun Embedded Test Orchestrator provides the framework required to execute automated tests. Each customer remains responsible for defining the validation coverage and acceptance criteria required by its product and QA process.
Customers enrolled in an active RidgeRun Engineering Services subscription may request test development for features implemented by RidgeRun as part of that engagement.

Example Use Case
An embedded product team continuously adds drivers, hardware support, and new system functionality. Before every release, developers and QA engineers must manually validate cameras, networking, storage, USB devices, and other platform features.
With RidgeRun Embedded Test Orchestrator, the team can create reusable test suites and execute them on the target hardware throughout development. Results and logs are collected automatically, helping developers identify regressions while the relevant software changes are still recent.
This reduces repeated manual work, protects QA time, and lowers the risk of discovering critical regressions near a release or in production.
Supported Platforms
Hardware
- Any Linux-based embedded devices
- Validated on NVIDIA Jetson platforms
Support for additional platforms can be evaluated according to the customer’s product requirements.
What the Test Orchestrator Does Not Replace
RidgeRun Embedded Test Orchestrator does not replace a formal QA team, QA strategy, or product certification process.
The platform is designed to provide frequent feedback during development, similar to how unit tests help detect software problems early. The customer remains responsible for reviewing test coverage and ensuring that its validation process meets company, industry, and regulatory requirements.
Why RidgeRun?
For over 20 years, RidgeRun has helped companies develop production-quality embedded Linux products. Our expertise includes Linux kernel development, BSP customization, camera systems, multimedia frameworks, hardware integration, and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
RidgeRun Embedded Test Orchestrator applies this experience to real-hardware validation, helping development teams automate repetitive tests and detect platform regressions earlier.
