ONVIF is an open industry forum that provides and promotes standardized interfaces for effective interoperability of IP-based physical security products.
ONVIF Profile S is designed for IP-based video systems. A Profile S device (e.g., an IP network camera or video encoder) can send video data over an IP network to a Profile S client. A Profile S client (e.g., a video management software) can configure, request, and control video streaming over an IP network from a Profile S device. Profile S also covers ONVIF specifications for PTZ control, audio in, multicasting, and relay outputs for conformant devices and clients that support such features.
RidgeRun offers a solution that can turn any Linux device into an Onvif Profile S compliant device. Its core is based on GStreamer (GStreamer Daemon and its modularity), allowing the user to easily add new features. It is intended to provide ONVIF support, easily reducing time to market and helping our customers avoid investing time dealing with ONVIF specification implementation.
The latest version supports a reduced set of requests of the media and device services to allow users to have a working stream out of the box. New services and requests can be added based on customers’ needs.
